QUESTIONS FREQUENTLY ASKED BY HOMEOWNERS

  • What can I expect during my free consultation?

Every customer is different and every home is unique. Our experts will meet you onsite (or virtually) to walk through your specific needs. The goal of our first meeting would be to determine the age and condition of your home, clearly define present and future needs, and then work through possible solutions. We’ll climb up on your roof (with you if you are able) and go section by section to get a solid understanding of what problems you may be facing. This enables us to identify the most cost-effective and efficient way to resolve issues and get you the peace of mind you deserve.

  • How do I know something is wrong with my roof?

Knowing when you need a new roof is something every homeowner should keep tabs on. You should pay attention to a roof’s age, its appearance after rough weather, and any leaks. Typical shingle roofs can last approximately 12-20 years, depending on the quality of the material and installation. You should regularly maintain your roof and never delay preventive maintenance that will help you identify any broken shingles or loss in surfacing due to weather or debris. If you’re experiencing several leaks, especially at the seams of your roof, it may be time to consider a replacement.

  • Should I replace just the shingles of my roof?

Always keep in mind that there may sometimes be underlying issues which impact your home. These could have caused the present repair needs and require remedy before any roofing work is done. A good roof is only as good as what’s underneath and what’s around it. Solid decking, quality underlayment, effective gutters, and protective siding all play a part in the life of your roof.

  • Why is my roof staining?

Stains on your home's roof are generally caused by algae buildup. This growth is typically predominant on the North and East facing slopes of homes that are used to the humid climates of the southeast, due to less exposure to the sun.

  • What is the cost of a new roof?

Every roof’s cost varies based on the material you select and the condition of what’s underneath. We will work with your insurance and financing companies to make the cost of a new roof affordable.

  • Does Baxter Williams Roofing work with insurance claims?

    Absolutely!

BWR has relationships with all of the major homeowner insurance carriers and will diligently negotiate on your behalf during claims, keeping your best interest in mind.

  • Do you offer different roofing styles and colors?

It’s your house so the choice of color and style is always yours. However, we will try to identify materials common to your area and recommend the right quality product to maintain or even increase your property’s value. We will work with you to evaluate the options and help select the most aesthetically pleasing roofing style. We have a wide variety of options for asphalt shingles, metal roofing, as well a synthetic slate roofing.

  • When is the best time to install a new roof?

Baxter Williams Roofing works year-round. The quality of installation or lifespan of the roof is not impacted by the season of the year.

  • What happens if there is rain during my roof installation?

Depending on the size of the roof, BWR will typically install your roof in one or two days. This virtually eliminates the chance of rain affecting your installation. If there is a chance of rain in the forecast, we will delay the installation until the next acceptable day. Your dedicated project manager will work with you to schedule the best time for installation.

  • Do you use staples or nails?

Although it is cheaper to use staples to install shingles, Baxter Williams Roofing strives to deliver quality and dependable roofing. That’s why we only use treated nails that are made specifically for roofing purposes.

  •
Will my landscaping be harmed during my roof installation?

Baxter Williams Roofing works diligently to protect your property’s grounds during installation. We use tarps in installations and run an industrial magnet roller through your yard as part of the cleanup process. Besides your peace of mind, our goal is to leave no footprint of the installation behind.
